Cartier — Live Illustration

For the Cartier boutique in Stockholm I spent an evening drawing live. The occasion was Clash de Cartier, a jewellery line that combines rigour and playfulness in its own distinctive way. That very tension is what I wanted to capture on paper.

An evening at the boutique

Between display cases and champagne, guests came to my drawing table one after another. I draw looks, not faces: the silhouette of a dress, a posture, the ring on a hand, the bangle on a wrist. In just a few minutes, ink and colour become a one-of-a-kind fashion illustration that every guest takes home.

Jewellery with a light hand

Drawing jewellery demands precision, yet the line should stay light. With Clash de Cartier I was especially drawn to the interplay of clean shapes and small, cheeky details. It shows up in every drawing from that evening.
