Deluxe Dinner at Home: Sushi by Go by Steffen Henssler

Currently, we’re all spending an incredible amount of time at home. Since this “new everyday life” can sometimes feel overwhelming, we treated ourselves to something really special over the weekend: Sushi from GO by Steffen Henssler. I’ve showcased it for you with my illustrations.

Why not celebrate an evening properly again? Do something different than the usual lockdown Netflix nights? Said and done. On Saturday evening, I beautifully set the table, played some great music, and lit candles. I declared a no-sweatpants rule, and then the doorbell rang.

Delivered in black boxes, the pop-up delivery service from the TV chef offers creative, Californian-Japanese sushi. We opted for a mix of fish and vegetarian varieties, and we were pretty impressed. Rocket Roll, Avocado Sashimi Ceviche, or Nigiri Tempura Asparagus – I can’t even decide what my favorite was. We especially loved the Crispy Tuna Tatar parcels, where the fish is served on crispy rice pillows. The Hulk Sauce – a bright green herb dip – was also a highlight.

For the illustrations with which the sushi was photographed, I was inspired by traditional, historical Japanese ink drawings and combined them with modern color combinations and patterns. GO by Steffen Henssler can now be found in and around Munich, Frankfurt, and Hamburg. Price-wise, Steffen Henssler’s pop-up service is definitely not for every day – however, the sushi is in no way comparable to standard Asian delivery services. For special moments, both for the eyes and your taste buds, it’s a clear recommendation.
